Its a Wrap!

As the dust settled on Day 1, our band of volunteers were up early preparing the pitches for Day 2 of this new format.

Starting the day were the U18s, with teams representing Timperley, Brooklands, Cheadle and Mersey. On this occasion, the team from Timperley managed to remain unbeaten throughout and took home the trophy.

Ladies were up next on pitches 3 & 4, with Oxton, Stoke, Leeds, and Timperley all assisting in making this event so successful. Oxton remained unbeaten all day, to take the trophy back to the Wirral.

On pitches 1 & 2, we had 9 teams battling it out with a terrific turnout from Cheadle (3 teams), Stoke, York Uni, Sheffield Uni, and Cheadle Hulme creating a good deal of competition in all the games. Two teams remained unbeaten all day, and played each other for the first time in the final, with Stockport 1 beating Cheadle 1 for the inaugural champions of Stockport September Sixes.

It seemed a very simple idea. STOCKPORT SEPTEMBER SIXES, crammed into a very hectic lacrosse calendar. New format of the game, New Rules, and an opportunity for boys, girls, women and men to sample the format for the first time. Well, we certainly underestimated the enormous effort and reliance on volunteers to pull off, a well organised, well run event, and we couldnt have done it without the Stockport Lacrosse family. It actually goes further than our club, as there were numerous people from other clubs who stepped up, where there was a gap and they filled it. So we Thank You all, and we look forward to next year.

Over the 2 days, the following clubs all won.

U12s- Mellor, U14s Cheadle, U16s Stockport, and Senior Men - Stockport
U13s - Norbury, U15s Heaton Mersey and Ladies - Oxton
