This weekend sees the commencement of the 3rd Stockport September Sixes tournament. A full two days of competition, with junior male and female teams taking to the field on Saturday 16th September, and senior men and women taking place on Sunday 17th September.
Stockport are trying to introduce players to this format, and the different rules of this format each and every year. Proving that Sixes lacrosse is for everyone, not just elite athletes.
On Saturday, the pitch will be all ready to go, with 4 pictures welcoming 27 teams across the day's competition. The day is fast, and frantic both on and off the field, with the U12 boys competition starts at 09.30, the U14 boys will run from 12.00, and finishing off the boys competition with the U16s at 14.30, and all this competition will take place on pitches 1 and 2. Alongside this, we will be running two girls competitions on the day, with U13s starting at 12.30, followed by U15s at 15.30.
Not satisfied with one day of competition, the Sunday switches its attention to Seniors, with an ever growing number of teams wanting to participate, the club have been inundated with a number of teams returning, but also coming along for the first time. A total of 19 teams will be in attendance, with the Men starting at 11.00 and the ladies starting at 11.30.
With Saturday being National Lacrosse Day, it would be worth mentioning that this whole event is put on by volunteers who are helping and assisting the club to run this event.
There is no charge to come along and watch, albeit parking is limited. Refreshments will be served throughout the weekend, and the club looks forward to welcoming all those in attendance.
